With an extensive repertoire of jazz, standards, and popular tunes, Ralph Turek is a pianist and sound synthesist who creates "an ensemble of one." Using a digital keyboard, he accompanies prerecorded, original tracks and enhances the effect by routing his sounds separately through three amplifiers.
Ralph is Professor Emeritus of Music at The University of Akron, where he taught for 25 years prior to retiring in 2005. He is a respected composer and the author of widely used college textbooks on music theory published by McGraw-Hill.
Ralph has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the University of Maryland, as well as awards from ASCAP and the Union Civic League and Arts Foundation of Chicago. Several of his works have been published and many have been performed throughout the country.
